The Bloggies 2026!

The blogosphere's annual celebration is coming back.

The Bloggies 2026!

The Bloggies 2026 are coming.

It's time for a re-introduction. The Bloggies are coming. A yearly celebration of blogging in tabletop roleplaying games. It's one part award show and one part battle royale. A bracket-style tournament for blog posts. It's silly. It's intense. It's an opportunity to recognize great posts while having some fun.

You can find the official page and home for The Bloggies 2026 on its own page.

How do The Bloggies work?

The Bloggies are like a cursed crown. You know, like, The Dutchman, The Red Hood, The Lich King, Death, or Santa Claus. That means the person hosting the Bloggies this year, won platinum last year, and the person who hosts next year, is foolishly trying to win this year.

  • How many blog posts compete? It depends on submissions. At a minimum, it's 8 nominees per category, 4 categories, and 32 blog posts.
  • How do blog posts compete? Blog posts face each other in a tournament-style bracket. Nominees go in. Four golds, silvers, and coppers come out. Then the golds fight for platinum.
  • How are blog posts selected? The community nominates blog posts in January. Then the host (and Bloggies alumni) winnow it down to the finalists.
  • How does voting work? The Bloggies change from year to year. This year, the four brackets will run cocurrently over the course of a week. The final brackets will be released ahead of time to give everyone a chance to re-read.
  • Is campaigning allowed? Yes. It's encouraged. But there's a golden path to Bloggies greatness—always boost another post at the same time. If you fail to uphold this rule, your URL will be cursed with bad comments for all eternity.

What are the categories?

The Bloggies' categories can change from year to year depending on the submissions. This list is based on previous years.

  • Theory Category. Thinking about systems, settings, and more.
  • Gameable Category. Ready-to-use rules, monsters, and more.
  • Advice Category. Advice for play, prep, publishing, and more.
  • Critique Category. Critical analysis of books, games, and more.

There are also special bonus categories that are awarded separately.

  • Best Debut Blog. Recognition for newcomers that make a splash.
  • Best Series. Heavily dependent on how many series posts we get.

Who is this year's host?

In 2024, the host was Sacha Goat who won The Bloggies in 2023. Before them was Zedeck Siew. Before Zedeck it was Prismatic Wasteland — who started The Bloggies. If you want to see all the past winners from platinum to copper, you can find them below.

This year's host is Clayton (hello!) of Explorers Design. I won 2025's Bloggies with a silly post about combat without hit points. I'm proof you can win so long as you have an idea, a blog , and a social media account to pester people with links. Next year's host will be whoever wins The Bloggies 2025.

What are the dates?

The Bloggies are not as serious or big-budget as the other awards. After all, it's not about the voting and winning, it's about the reading and writing. This year's schedule is a little different from previous years.

  • Submissions open: January 1st, 2026
  • Submissions close: January 31st, 2026
  • Voting opens: Mid-February (TBD)
  • Winners declared: Late-February (TBD)

Bloggies enthusiasts will notice everything is one month later. That's for a couple reasons. One, it moves the festivities away from the other festivities in December. Which gives everyone more breathing room to focus on blogs. Two, it makes submissions criteria a little easier.

What posts are eligible?

Anything written between December 1st 2024 and December 31st 2025 is eligible.* *Last year's cutoff was November 31st. This overlap ensures no one's left out.
